We Believe…

What we believe is based on the biblical principles and examples God has provided for us in the Holy Scriptures.  The following beliefs are NOT the final Word on Biblical truth, but are the foundation upon which we build, at ROLWC. (Luke 1:1)

The Inspired Scriptures —

Bible is the inspired Word of God, a revelation from God to man, the infallible rule of faith and conduct, and is superior to conscience and reason, but not contrary to reason (2 Tim. 3:15-17, 1 Peter 1:23-25, Heb. 4:12).

The One True Godhead —

The triune and one true Godhead is comprised of three (3) separate and distinct personalities, The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit, who are eternally self-existent, self-revealed and function as one entity.

The Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ —

Jesus is the eternal Son of God. We believe in His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His substitutionary work on the cross, His bodily resurrection from the dead and His exaltation to the right hand of God. (Isaiah 9:6-7, Luke 1:30-35), 1 Corinthians 15:3 & 4, Philippians 2:9-11)

The Lordship of Christ —

Jesus is Lord over all things in heaven, in the earth and under the earth. (Matthew 28:18, Acts 2:36, Romans 10:1-13, 1 Corinthians 12:3, Philippians 2:9-10).

Salvation —

Salvation Is the free gift of God to man, separate from works and the law, and that it operates by God’s grace, through faith in Jesus Christ, producing works acceptable to God (Ephesians 2:8).

The New Birth —

Jesus said: “Ye must be born again”.  Therefore we believe that being born again (of the Spirit) means we take part in the death, burial and bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ, by the power of the Holy Spirit, when we confess Him as Lord of our lives.  We also believe that every “born again” person should continually walk in grace, from a heart of righteousness and purity, being an example to both the Believer and the Unbeliever. (Ephesians 2:8-9)

Baptism in Water —

All Believers should follow Christ’s example and be baptized (totally immersed in water) to show we share in Christ’s death, burial and resurrection, and now progress in newness of life. (Matthew 28:19, Acts 10:47-48, Romans 6:4)

The Baptism In The Holy Spirit  —

The Baptism in the Holy Spirit is an important and necessary experience in the life of every Believe.  It is not dependent upon a Believer’s worthiness, but is the free gift of God. We also believe that the normal entitlement and expectation of all Believers today, and in the early Christian Church, should be to receive the Father’s promise—the Baptism in the Holy Spirit—according to the command of our Lord Jesus Christ.  This Baptism in the Holy Spirit brings an overflowing fullness of the Spirit, a keeping-power for daily living, a deepening reverence for God, and an intensified consecration and dedication to God and His work. (John 3:3-7, Acts 2:38, Ephesians 1:13)

The Tithe Is Holy —

The tithe (the first 10% of a person’s individual, gross earnings and other income) is holy unto God and that each Believer is mandated to continually bring all the tithes into the storehouse of his/her home Church and give free-will offerings to God.  We believe that tithing is an outward expression of the Lordship of Christ in each Believer’s life, signifying the unity of Christ’s Body [the Church] in support of the Lord’s work. (Genesis 14:18-20, 28:20-22, Leviticus 27:30-32, Proverbs 3:9-10, Malachai 3:6-18, Matthew 22:23, 1 Corinthians 16:1-2, Hebrews 6:20, 7:1-10)

Our Worship

Why do we stand when we sing?

To honor God’s presence among us. “And the Levites,…of the Children of the Korhites, stood up to praise the Lord God of Israel with a loud voice on high.” (2 Chron. 20:19)

Why do we clap our hands?

Because we are full of joy over God’s love and care for us.  “O clap your hands all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph.” (Psalm 47:1)

Why do we lift our hands?

To bless the Lord and to make Him happy.  “Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the Lord.” (Psalms 134:2; 63:4; 1 Timothy 2:8)

Why Do We Dance?

To celebrate and express our passionate love for God.  “Let them praise his name in the dance” (Psalm 149:3)

Why do we sing in Tongues and in English?

For up-building in spiritual progress and consoling the Church.  “For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful. What is it then? I will pray with the spirit and I will pray with the understanding also; I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also.” (1 Corinthians 14:14-15)

Why do we have this type of worship?

Jesus said that the Father desires true worshipers who will worship Him in spirit and in truth.  “But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth; for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is Spirit and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” (John 4:23-24)

The Sacrament of Marriage

“Boaz took Ruth and she became his wife…”Ruth 4:13.  “…For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife…” Ephesians 5:31.  “Each man should have his own wife, and each woman should have her own husband.”  1 Corinthians 7:2.  “Finally the time came for him to marry her.” Genesis 29:21.  It is our belief that marriage, as ordained by God, must be between one man and one woman.  No other can be performed or condoned.  (Jeremiah 29:6; Romans 7:2; 1 Corinthians 7:39; Genesis 2:23-24; Ephesians 5:22-25)

God’s Awesome Plan for Your Life

Did anyone ever tell you that God has an awesome plan for your life? God, in His infinite mercy, sent His Son Jesus to die for your sins so that His grace, and not your past sins, would determine your future. Jeremiah 29:11 states, “’For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’”

Are you looking for that hope? Are you hoping for that better future for you, and for your family? God’s plans for you are peace, prosperity and joy here on earth and eternal life in Heaven.

You do not have to join our church to know this loving and merciful God who holds your future. The Bible says that “If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9). Do you want to experience this saving grace of Jesus and invite Him into your life?

Say this prayer aloud from right where you are and believe it in your heart:

“Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your love for me and for the gift of Your Son Jesus who died to save me from my sins. I recognize my personal need for repentance and my need for a Savior. I cannot do this on my own. I now turn to You, to accept Jesus Christ as my Savior. I ask You to forgive me of my sins and to give me eternal life. And I pray, dear God, that You will walk with me daily and lead me in Your way as I seek Your will for my life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

Congratulations! If you said this prayer and believe it in your heart, you are now a part of God’s Kingdom. We encourage you to seek God through prayer, to read His Word for guidance, and to find a community of fellow believers who will help you grow closer to Jesus Christ. We believe you have encountered the love of God and this is only the beginning of your destiny in Christ.
